D. I. Loizos has served higher education as a university college social
history professor in Greece and has been a passionate lover of classical music.
He began listening to classical music in his late teens in the mid 1970s through the local radio station,
some concerts and his father's very small collection of vinyl records.
By the mid 1980s he had become a systematic listener as well as a collector of classical music
78rpm and LP albums. In the 1990s he was lucky enough to be given a large collection of classical music LP
albums ranging all the way from the 1950s to the 1990s as well as a collection of symphonic music 78rpm records.
He had already begun collecting recordings on CD and had become a conscious listener of classical music.
It was in the early 1990s when he became interested in learning more about the lives of composers in relation to the historical background, in analyzing their works, and in selecting recordings.
His classical music collection includes more than 50.000 recordings on a variety
of media (78rpm records, LP albums, CDs, DVDs, downloads.
